Happy Sunday! Doesn’t this have motivation written all over it!? Stay hydrated and pick up your workouts now that summer is here. Here’s a quick few facts about hydration and how your body works. We are made up of about 2/3 water. That’s 70%! More than half of our make up is water! How dare you not drink enough of it? The Institute of Medicine determined that an adequate intake (AI) for men is roughly 3 liters (about 13 cups) of total beverages a day. The AI for women is 2.2 liters (about 9 cups) of total beverages a day. On average, it’s recommended you drink 8 cups to a gallon a day. A properly hydrated body promotes proper functioning of the body. 

Here’s some quick tips about alkaline water. Effective hydration coupled with the antioxidant properties of alkaline ionized water allows for better absorption water and aids the body’s efforts to reduce toxins.  Calcium, magnesium and other minerals found in drinking water are more readily absorbed by the body for use in the blood, organs and muscle tissue.

As toxins and waste are more effectively neutralized and eliminated from the body, acidity is also reduced, balancing the body’s pH. Understand? Basically….the more hydrated the body is, the better our cells function, most ailments could be prevented if we drank more water and our bodies were better balanced (pH). Our bodies are temples and we are allowed to assist in the normal functions of the body by consuming more water in general.
